Write about a conversation that changed you.

  Prompt Response: A conversation that personally changed me is when I started doing therapy because of things I was going through and my mom signed me up and talking about things that were bothering that I was finally able to let it go and get it out of my mind.  Summary: Today we talked about supporting the claim and finding evidence to make sure you have a strong argument. Reflection: You an put your words or evidence in a good worded way as long as you give the proper quotation.

Write about something that you believed as a child.

  Prompt Response: I used to believe in Santa Claus but the more I got older my brother ruined my belief and kept saying it was my mom and one time I saw her wrapping the present and I was really sad about it.  Summary: Today we watched commercials of different businesses that each had a way of showing ethos, pathos, and logos. Reflection: It's cool to see different videos that can replicate something as a literature definition.

Write about a fear you have overcome.

  Prompt Response: A fear I have overcame is heights because I used be very scared and me going to Six Flags has got me to get over it more but like plane heights I can still be a little scared of them. Summary: Today we learned about different colleges and how you have to take certain classes to get college started early in high school or just do your normal time or speed of the time for the specific degrees.  Reflection: Today has got me looking into colleges for my major since I'm already a Junior, it made me realize that I don't have much time left and making me wanna do advanced classes or dual enrollment.

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

  Prompt Response: Something I would continue to talk about is why after a certain time adults won’t correct their kid especially when they are in the wrong they make it seem like it’s okay behavior. Summary:  Today we learned about claim of fact, claim of policy, and claim of value and they each have different terms to state what you think is right or wrong about certain topics. Reflection: Seeing how you can change different topics to your personal opinion can show a lot of different views from everyone around.

Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

  Prompt Response:  Something I was afraid to accept was the friendship that ended that I thought never would end it kinda hurt but I can’t control how people are. Summary: Today we learned about argument and ethos, pathos, and logos. Reflection:  There are things all around the world that show ethos, pathos, and logos, I just never realized.

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

  Prompt Response: The most time I’ve been judged is when people don’t know me and then when the become close to me they always say they thought I was mean sometimes it depends on that person because I know things about them that make me back off form them. Summary:  Today we did a common lit for an assignment. Reflection: People think that I’m not a nice person but that’s because before I break my shell I still have my guard up sometimes.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

  Prompt Response: I wonder why the music is always fast the different traditions they do for the holiday and what they put in their food to make good. Summary:  Today we learned about 3 thesis statement and they include a essay topic point and 3 supporting details for the sentence. Reflection:  We learned a lot today a lot of good information that will help me in the future.

After viewing your classmates’ poem posters, select one presentation that caught your attention. Describe what you enjoyed about it or something new you learned from their work.

  Prompt Response:   What I enjoyed most about hearing everyone's poem's is the different views on people's perspective on life and them themselves. Summary: Some poem's were interesting and I gave true scores on the grading. Reflection: My poem was very personal and the one of the few that talked about feelings.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

  Prompt response:   It affected a lot relations by the arguing that was going on and also there was helpline each other but still backlash from what happened earlier. Summary: Today we did a common lit assignment that basically talked about two characters that didn’t like each other but a really bad situation made them come together to get out of it.  Reflection:  This shows a lot of what goes in especially this generation people just have to learn to become cordial with each other.

f today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

  Prompt response: I use animosity a lot I didn’t know I used it a lot summary: We learned 15 words that has to do with the human actions and how they can be used in certain sentences.  reflection:  there words that I use the definition but not the actual words 

It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

  Prompt Response: What I love most is how when we come together to do something we actually want it goes really good. I show my school spirit by cheering and coming to different events. Reflection:  This is a very diverse school when it comes to rallies and cultural events.

Sept 9th Which aspect of creating a poem do enjoy the most

  Prompt Response: I enjoy actually thinking of the lines to come up with cause it makes you think deeper about what you have going on with somebody or your life itself. Summary:  Today we wrote poems about ourselves and others for an assignment. Reflection:  I didn't think hard about a lot of things in my relationship until now which made me express myself in a certain way.

Sept 8th Describe a single specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish.

  Prompt Response:  A time like that is when I will tell my friends about something that would bother me but sometimes the things I would say wouldn't come out right so they would just admit I'm wrong. Summary: We read a poem about life or death and people risking it like someone walking a rope over a mountain without anything to save them so they risks to have excitement in their life. Reflection:  I feel like excitement shouldn't determine life or death you can still have a fun time without risking your life.

You are currently working on a soundtrack for selected Emily Dickinson poems. With that in mind, if asked to choose a song to describe your life right now, which song would you select and why?

  Prompt Response: If I was to chose a song to describe my life I would do 'Over My Dead Body' by Drake. It's certain lines that I relate to in the song that I never really listened to and showing it goes to either myself or people in my life. Summary:  Today we took a test on poetry today, and I passed it with a 79 so now I know for my other tests to get it to a 80 or higher. Reflection:  I was very surprised at my score but I realized that most of the questions is what we had real conversations about that made me interested but also learn lessons and themes.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

  Prompt Response:  A poem I would write about something that happened in my life is the presence of people that come and go even if it's somebody that you actually need in your life. My overall message is to keep certain walls built up around you so when something happens it won't affect your life so much. Summary:  What we learned today is 2 other poems of Emily Dickinson that relates to the topic of death and never knowing what will physically happen on the other side unless you experienced it yourself. Reflection:  There were a lot of more wondering minds and still so many questions about what goes on in the afterlife.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

  Prompt Response: This class has been good, it's been going at a fast pace for me to keep up and it encourages me to do my assignments more quicker which helps with my time management. Summary:  What we did today is analyzing a poem that was based of the time of Death, I learned that you cannot control it even if you want to, you just can't waste time so when that time do come you won't go out sad and it'll be more of a celebration. Reflection:  It made me think more about the afterlife and make me wonder what will happen when that time does come, and also to don't worry so much about it before it do comes and I just spent my whole life being afraid.
