As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt Response:    My favorite thing from this semester is when do the poems I actually liked analyzing more than I thought I did it just made me feel like there were deeper meanings Summary: we did our final project today and I passed. Reflection: I had a very fun time in this first semester

Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester

Prompt Response: My favorite thing from this semester is when do the poems I actually liked analyzing more than I thought I did it just made me feel like there were deeper meanings in stories that I never read For the spring semester I would like to actually make sure there aren’t people who are in here that are distracting and doing nonsense stuff. Summary: Study for all finals. Reflection: I am very excited for the break.

Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Prompt Response: One tradition that is important to me is just waking up early to open presents then make breakfast and then with New Years we just stay up and wait till the ball drop to celebrate. Summary: I finished my final project and very positive that I am going to pass it. Reflection:  I am just excited for the break to come.

How have the holidays changed as you have grown older?

Prompt Response: I don't get as excited anymore for them anymore like I got used to it type thing so I just get things I asked for and I be grateful for them but it's not that exciting feeling anymore. Summary: Today was vocabulary Monday. Reflection: I am studying for my finals and making sure I pass every class to get my GPA up and so I won't have to worry about anything during Winter break.

Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Prompt Response: Something that I have outgrown is being with my family 24/7 because that's all I wanted to do when I was younger cause we was all close but now that I have grown up and understand things that I didn't because I was so young so it made me push away from them more but I do miss always being with them because that's when I had the most laughs and created bonds that couldn't be apart. Summary: We talked about laws and how they are very limited.  Reflection: I feel like certain amendments should get brought back up because in these days a lot of people are breaking them.

Write about something that you can't stop thinking about.

Prompt Response: Something I can't stop thinking about is where everything went wrong in my relationship. I question myself everyday thinking if it's something I could've done better or to fix but I think it shouldn't have ended and was worth fighting for but hopefully it can happen again. I also can't stop thinking about what happens after death. Like where do people go? Is heaven and hell real I question that time to time.

Culture mask

Prompt response Reflection it’s cool to see what people are into and how similar kids our age like the same thing

reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

Prompt Response: It shows that you don't to look or be like anybody else or else you can make yourself very unhappy, a moment where I relate to this is during middle school, I didn't know much because I just moved to that school and I was 12 so I was still finding what I liked I was so busy trying to keep up with others I wasn't looking at myself and now people like me for who I actually am.  Summary: We watched a video based on the poem 'I Too' by Langston Hughs.  Reflection: I think it's important for people to know who they are I feel like the world will be very more positive and different if everybody is not trying to be like the next person.

Reflect on your own life: What aspect of your cultural identity are you most proud of, and why?

Prompt Response: I'm most proud of my style because I didn't know what I liked or wear so as became older I found in what I liked.  Summary: Today we read a poem by Langston Hughes and and it talked about equality and how everyone is the same in America.  Reflection: It is important to see that we are all equal and we are the same just in different tones of colors.

Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?

Prompt Response: I was at a party and I did some things I wasn't supposed to and I do regret it everyday cause it was some consequences for me doing it. Summary:  We read a poem that has to do with us teens in general so seeing that teens do they think it's cool but it can get you into actual trouble.  Reflection: The poem relates a lot to this generation because they do similar things especially at this school they think doing those things will get you somewhere and far in life or else your life is just gonna end up short.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

Prompt Response: I have a very close bond with my mom now we always did it just got better during this break I think this break was needed with everything going on change has happen. Summary: Today we caught up with new vocabulary. Reflection:  I am excited for these next few weeks i'm going to lock in and make sure that my grades stay the way they are maybe higher so my GPA can improve this year.
